the "OH MY GOD: SHOES" day

i.ve always been lucky enough to be surrounded by people who have made me

laugh so much. the list is long and overfilled with names of very special people. juancho + eva, these two cousins of mine who are more like my brothers and whom i close to never find near by, have always been on the top of that great list. today we went uptown 'to get some shoes' with eva (also known as eyelash n' a half). 
she.s got the most random sence of humor,

and i absolutely love that.

siempre he tenido la suerte de estar rodeado de gente que me ha hecho reír muchísimo. la lista es larga y plagada de nombres de personas muy especiales. juancho + eva, estos dos primos míos que son más bien como unos hermanos a los que prácticamente nunca encuentro cerca físicamente, han estado siempre en los primeros puestos de la lista. hoy hemos ido al centro de washington a comprar zapatos con eva (también conocida como eyelash n' a half). ella tiene el sentido del humor más 'random' que he conocido nunca, siempre sale con las cosas más inesperadas
y eso me encanta.

shopping at manhattan (NYC day 2)

después de conseguir madrugar con bastante dificultad, de ver las noticias del día en el canal de noticias de nueva york y de llenarnos de energía con un desayuno neuyorkino a base de dunkin' donuts y chocolate caliente (para mi un chocolate blanco, gracias), hemos empezado un día agradablemente frío que, según decía nuestro planning, era el día de las compras. había poco tiempo y muchas calles por recorrer, así que nos hemos dado toda la prisa que hemos podido, corriendo arriba y abajo de la 5ª avenida y el soho.
a pesar de lo impresionantes que muchas de esas tiendas son, lo que más me hacía arquear las cejas y abrir la boca era lo barato que resultaba todo... al cambio, claro. 
así que, a mediodía hemos tenido que hacer una parada en el hotel para descargar antes de continuar... pero no consiste en quemar la tarjeta sin miramientos, consiste en hacerse con todo lo que siempre resulta demasiado caro en europa, todo lo que siempre te da escalofríos pagar.
cuando las tiendas han echado el cierre, hemos vuelto ha hacer otra parada en el hotel y después, como ya se ha convertido en rutina (en este caso agradable) hemos ido a broadway, hoy queríamos ir al cine.
las cuatro exquisitas porciones de pizza de famous famiglia y las enormes bebidas han pasado inadvertidas, bajo nuestros abrigos, a la sala y en seguida estábamos disfrutando de uno de los mejores principios que he visto en el cine últimamente. una lástima que el resto de la película no fuera exactamente lo que esperaba.

after waking up very early with some difficulty, watched the breaking news on new york channel and more than anything, once gotten ourselves filled with energy having a new yorker-style breakfast based on dunkin' donuts and hot chocolate (i.ll have a white hot chocolate, thanks), we began a nicely cold day which, acording to our planning, was the shopping day. 
there were only a few hours and lots of streets to walk, so we tried walking our fastest up and down soho and the 5th avenue. despite how impressive many of these stores are, what made my mouth open the most was how cheap everything was... after changing the currency back to euros,
of course.
so, by noon we had to make a quick stop at the hotel to drop some bags... 
but it.s not about burning the card ruthlessly, it.s about getting all those things that are always so expensive in europe, all that stuff you always feel a well known chill when you pay for.
when the stores closed their doors, we had to make another stop at the room and after that, as our new and nice rutine commands, we went up to broadway. we wanted to watch a movie tonight.
the four delicious slides of pizza from famous famiglia and the huge drinks snuck under our coats unnoticed into the theater, and there we were, enjoying one of the best film beginnings i.ve seen lately. it.s a shame that the rest of the movie wasn.t quite what i expected.

the man who saved fashion

i.ve been more than a couple of years waiting for him to show his seventh art skills. finally now, after saving a huge fashion gigant from a catastrophe, and after doing much good for design, tom ford comes up with this:

he estado más que un par de años esperando a que enseñara su destreza para el séptimo arte. por fin ahora, después de que salvara de una catástrofe a un enorme gigante de la moda, y después de hacer mucho bien por el diseño, tom ford aparece con esto:

analog, pigeonhole and hours

disparar analógico no es algo que se tenga muchas oportunidades de hacer, por eso tener la suerte de hacerlo es toda una experiencia. no poder ver el resultado inmediatamente y tener que esperar hasta el revelado hace que la cámara se convierta en una caja mágica que guarda todo el trabajo y lo esconde como un secreto inconfesable. hoy he trabajado con jonay pmatos, él es uno de esos fotógrafos especiales que hacen analógico.

lo que más me gusta de los fotógrafos son sus ojos, cómo te miran, buscando por dónde enchufarte el flashazo; siempre dan la impresión de estar en otra dimensión. si te fijas es muy fácil ver cómo en algunos momentos se les silencia todo y observaran hipnotizados la foto que van a disparar.

hay gente que no soporta a esos que hacen más de una cosa, creo que es porque no pueden encasillarles, y el echo de no poderles etiquetar con un solo título les pone nerviosos. a mi me resulta imposible dedicarme sólo a una cosa, y supongo que precisamente por eso, me encantan todos estos artistas multidisciplinares.
jonay, además de fotografías con vida propia, llenas de algo muy peculiar, hace unas 'pinturas' con cinta aislante sobre paredes, que convierten cualquier triste superficie blanca en una obra de arte de esas que te permiten mirarlas durante horas y horas.

shooting analog is something you don.t have the chance to do very often, that.s why doing it is such an experience. not being able to see the result inmediately and having to wait long before, turns the camera into a magical box that keeps all the work inside and hides it as an unspeakeble secret. today i worked with jonay pmatos, he.s one of those special fotographers who do analog.

what i like the most about photographers is their eyes, how they look at you, seeking for the perfect spot where to shoot at you; they always seem to be in another dimension. if you watch carefully, you can easily see how in some moments everything silences for them and they observe, hypnotized, the picture they will shoot.

there.s people who can.t stand those who do more than one thing, i think it.s because they can.t pigeonhole them, and being unable to lable them with just one name makes them real nervous. i find it imposible to do just one thing, that might be why i love all multidisciplinary artists... beside alive pictures filled with something very peculiar, jonay makes something you could call paintings, with color cellophane, that convert any sad white surface into one of those works of art that make you want to look at for hours and hours.

raúl docasar.s frozen time

conocí a raúl docasar hace meses. estaba en un descampado, vestido a lo años 70 y acompañado por un imponente coche de la época, sacado del particular museo de un coleccionista que tenía toda la pinta de vivir aún en aquella época. creo que fue después de notar el primer flash empotrarse en mis ojos cuando el cielo, que se parecía más al oscuro fondo marino, empezó a dejar caer un inesperado torrente de agua que se cargó la producción. de no ser por la comprensible mala leche que estos caprichos de la naturaleza causan, bajo aquella lluvia bien podría él haber improvisado y capturado una de estas impresionantes imágenes suyas que aprisionan el tiempo como si fuera algo que pudiera detenerse y poetizan el universo que hay entre dos momentos, ese gigante espacio de tiempo en el que la historia ya está escrita, que pasa ante nuestros ojos como un simple instante.

i met raúl docasar months ago. i was somewhere in the surroundings of barcelona, dressed up in 70.s fashion and companied by an amazing car which was taken out from the particular museum of a collector who looked very much as if he still lived back in 'GREASE' time.

i think it was after feeling the flash crashing into my eyes for the first time when the sky, which looked more like the dark seabed, started to release an unexpected water torrent that destroyed the whole production. if it hadn.t been for the understandable anger these caprices of nature cause, underneath that rain he could perfectly have improvised and captured one of those impressive images of him that imprison time as if it were something that could stop and poetize the universe between two moments, that gigant space of time in which history has already been written, that passes before our eyes like a simple instant.

i just love that picture. well, as a matter of fact, i love all hedi slimane does. i was going through my fat picture folders today and after i stepped on this one, i coudn.t resist posting it.
